2027 Ski-Doo Skandic vs. Tundra: Which Utility Sled Should You Pick?
By the Groupe Contant Team · Published October 24, 2026

Quick Answer
Skandic or Tundra: what's the difference?
Both are Ski-Doo utility snowmobiles built on the REV Gen5 platform, for trail and off-trail use. The Skandic is the bigger of the two: a 154 in. frame, a 20 or 24 in. wide track, a 35 in. ski stance, a 2-up seat on the LE and SE trims, and engines up to the 130 hp 600RR E-TEC (Skandic LE). The Tundra is lighter and narrower: a 15 or 16 in. track, a 32 in. ski stance, a 146 or 154 in. frame, a compact seat and 600 EFI (85 hp) or 600 ACE (62 hp) engines, for a dry weight of 460 to 500 lb depending on the trim. Pick the Skandic for heavy work and flotation, the Tundra for a light, manoeuvrable package in deep snow.
The Skandic and the Tundra are Ski-Doo's two utility snowmobiles. They share the REV Gen5 platform, Brembo brakes, LTS front suspension and the same 145 mm (5.7 in.) riser. BRP presents them differently, though: the Skandic as a workhorse built for the toughest tasks in remote areas, the Tundra as a versatile, responsive, lighter sled with a go-anywhere attitude.
This comparison relies only on BRP's 2027 model-year data for dealers. The Skandic comes in Sport, LE and SE trims, the Tundra in Sport and LE trims, and several figures change from one trim to the next: we name the trim whenever that's the case.

The Main Differences
- Track — The Skandic has a 20 in. wide track (every trim) or a 24 in. track (LE and SE trims). The Tundra has a 16 in. track (Tundra LE, Charger 154 x 16 x 1.5) or a 15 in. track (Tundra Sport, Cobra 146 x 15 x 1.6).
- Frame length — 154 in. on every Skandic trim and on the Tundra LE; 146 in. on the Tundra Sport.
- Width — An 889 mm (35 in.) ski stance and a 1,089 mm (42.8 in.) overall width on the Skandic, versus 813 mm (32 in.) and 994 mm (39.1 in.) on the Tundra.
- Engine — The Skandic SE comes only with the 900 ACE 4-stroke (95 hp); the Skandic LE offers the 600 EFI (85 hp), 600 ACE (62 hp), 900 ACE (95 hp) and 600RR E-TEC (130 hp); the Skandic Sport, the 600 EFI (85 hp). Both Tundra trims come with the 600 EFI (85 hp) or the 600 ACE (62 hp).
- Dry weight — From 556 lb (Skandic Sport) to 691 lb (Skandic SE, 24 in. track) for the Skandic, versus 460 to 480 lb (Tundra Sport) and 476 to 500 lb (Tundra LE) depending on the engine.
- Seat — WideTrack 2-up seat on the Skandic LE and SE, 1-up with rear storage on the Skandic Sport; narrow compact trail seat on the Tundra.
- Windshield — Ultra-high with mirrors on the Skandic LE and SE; low on the Skandic Sport and on both Tundra trims.
- Rear suspension — uMotion on every Skandic; rMotion X on the Tundra LE and cMotion X on the Tundra Sport.
Why Choose the Skandic
- The wide track (up to 24 in.) and 35 in. ski stance, for the off-trail flotation and traction BRP highlights.
- The widest engine choice, from the 600 EFI to the 130 hp 600RR E-TEC (Skandic LE), and the 95 hp 900 ACE 4-stroke on the LE and SE.
- The 2-up seat and ultra-high windshield with mirrors on the LE and SE, for carrying a passenger.
- A heavy-duty rear bumper with hitch receiver on the LE and SE; the Skandic SE adds the 135 L LinQ utility Premium cargo box and a 7.6 in. digital display.
- A 42 L (11.1 US gal) fuel tank on every trim.
Why Choose the Tundra
- The lightest package: 460 to 500 lb dry depending on the trim and engine, clearly less than any Skandic.
- A narrower build (32 in. ski stance, 994 mm overall width), which BRP ties to ultra-responsive handling in deep snow.
- The Tundra Sport and its 146 in. frame, the shortest of either line.
- 600 EFI or 600 ACE engines running on regular fuel (87), a heavy-duty rear bumper and high-performance LED headlights; the Tundra LE adds a tongue-type hitch.
- Heated grips and throttle lever as standard.

Frequently Asked Questions
Both are Ski-Doo utility snowmobiles built on the REV Gen5 platform, for trail and off-trail use. The Skandic is the bigger of the two: a 154 in. frame, a 20 or 24 in. wide track, a 35 in. ski stance, a 2-up seat on the LE and SE trims, and engines up to the 130 hp 600RR E-TEC (Skandic LE). Yes, both are built on the REV Gen5 platform for 2027, with Brembo brakes and LTS front suspension. They differ mainly in track width (20 or 24 in. for the Skandic, 15 or 16 in. for the Tundra), ski stance, weight, seat and engine choice.
According to BRP, the Skandic LE and SE have a WideTrack 2-up seat. The Skandic Sport has a 1-up seat with rear storage, and the Tundra a narrow compact trail seat.
The 600 EFI, 600 ACE and 900 ACE run on regular unleaded (87). Only the 600RR E-TEC, offered on the Skandic LE, requires premium unleaded (91).
