How Groupe Contant collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
Last updated: August 5, 2026 — in accordance with Quebec's Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (full text of the Act).
Who to contact
Chief Privacy Officer — privacy@contant.ca
For any question or request about your personal information, write to us at this address.
What personal information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us (a purchase, an information request, booking an appointment, our newsletter), we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Shipping address (for orders that are shipped)
- Payment confirmation only — we never receive or store your full credit card number. Payments are processed directly by our payment processor, which sends us only a confirmation that the payment succeeded.
Why we collect it
- Order fulfillment
- Shipping your order
- Customer service (responding to your questions or requests)
- Sending you marketing emails — only if you've opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time
Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We only share it with the service providers needed to run the site and process your order:
- Payment processor (Stripe) — securely processes your payment. Located in the United States.
- Shipping carrier (Canada Post, Purolator, or another carrier, depending on your order) — to deliver your order. Mostly Canadian companies; some carriers may have U.S.-based operations.
- Hosting and email delivery provider (cloud infrastructure and transactional emails, e.g. order confirmations) — located in the United States.
- Analytics tool (Google Analytics) and advertising tool (Meta Pixel) — used only if you've consented in the cookie banner (see the Cookies section below). Both located in the United States.
Providers located outside Quebec/Canada
Before sending personal information to a provider located outside Quebec, we take into account that provider's own published privacy and security commitments (for example, its data processing terms), with the aim of confirming a level of protection comparable to what Quebec's applicable privacy laws require. This applies to the U.S.-based providers listed above (payment, hosting/infrastructure, and — where you've consented — analytics and advertising).
Data retention & destruction
- Order data (name, contact info, shipping address, payment confirmation): kept for roughly 7 years, to meet our tax, accounting, and warranty obligations, then deleted or de-identified.
- Account data: this site doesn't currently offer customer accounts — you can shop without creating one. If accounts are added in the future, this policy will be updated.
- Newsletter: when you sign up, your email address is sent to our team, who manually add you to our sending tool. You can request removal at any time by writing to us.
- Cookie choice (consent banner): kept only in your own browser — we don't store it on our servers — and can be changed at any time.
Your rights
You can request access to the personal information we hold about you, its correction, or a portable copy of it. To make a request, just email us at:
We will respond to your request within 30 days.
Complaints
If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal information, please first write to our Privacy Officer (contact above) — we'll do our best to resolve it directly.
If your complaint isn't resolved to your satisfaction, you can escalate it to Quebec's Commission d'accès à l'information.
