1938

The Early Days

Contant's story begins in 1938 with Gaston Contant, selling wood, coal, grain and hay and running a general transport business. A far cry from today's showrooms, but the passion was already there. The arrival of the Ski-Doo would change the course of the company.

1993

Key Milestones in Growth

In 1993, Contant became the largest Bombardier dealer in Canada. A newspaper article from the time marks the milestone, with Pierre Beaudoin, Gérard Contant and Anthony Kalhok. The logo evolved along with the company as it expanded to Laval, Mirabel and Sainte-Agathe.

Traditions

Traditions that Shaped the Brand

Some traditions are part of Contant's story too. The annual Open House is still a much-anticipated event. Ski-Doo rides remain among the fondest memories of our customers and our team. And Contant's 15-passenger snowcoach, a real collector's piece, turned heads at events. Even the kids got rides around the parking lot.

Growth

A Team and Buildings That Grew

Over the years, the buildings and teams changed a lot. The showroom, entrance and service shop had to grow onto a second floor to keep up with demand. From Laval to Mirabel, the team photos show the pride that has always driven Contant.

Today

Major Expansions and Contant Today

In 2008, Contant built its Mirabel location, expanded in 2010 and again by 26,000 square feet in 2015. In Sainte-Agathe, the open layout and a second floor filled with new and used vehicles make for an easy visit. In 2025, Contant built its Repentigny location to replace Laval. Today, Contant has five locations: Repentigny, Mirabel, Sainte-Agathe, Vaudreuil and Beloeil.
